2027 Tesla Model Y L Window Tint: Our First Six-Seater Gets XPEL XR Plus

The first 2027 Tesla Model Y L to come through Blue Ocean Auto Spa gave us an opportunity to work on Tesla's new six-seat version of the Model Y—and it looks like it won't be the last.

We already have two more Model Y Ls scheduled to come through our Cedar Park shop next week.



For this first one, though, there was another part of the project that stood out: the owner had decided who would tint his Model Y L before he even ordered the vehicle.

Choosing the Tint Shop Instead of Just Ordering the Tint



This owner knew window tint was going onto his new Model Y L, but he didn't want the decision about who performed the installation made for him.

Before ordering the Tesla, he researched local XPEL dealers and compared his options. His priority wasn't simply buying "tint" as another item associated with the vehicle purchase. He wanted to know the shop that would actually be working on his new vehicle.

That research brought him to Blue Ocean Auto Spa.

Our reviews played an important part in his decision, but so did the experience of working directly with a local shop. Rather than feeling like an anonymous online tint purchase, he wanted to be able to choose the installer and know who was responsible for the work.

That's an important distinction with a brand-new vehicle—especially a newly introduced Tesla configuration.

Our First 2027 Tesla Model Y L

The Model Y L isn't simply another trim level of the familiar Model Y. It is Tesla's long-wheelbase version, with seating for six and a three-row interior configuration. Tesla lists the Model Y L Premium as a six-seat vehicle, and the additional length is immediately apparent once you're working around the vehicle.

For Blue Ocean, this silver example was our first opportunity to tint the new configuration.



The photos also give a good look at the six-passenger interior, including the additional rear seating area that distinguishes the Model Y L from the standard five-passenger Model Y.

XPEL PRIME XR Plus Throughout the Model Y L

The owner selected XPEL PRIME XR Plus for the project.

The final configuration was:

• 30% XR Plus on the front two windows
• 20% XR Plus on the remaining side and rear glass
• 70% XR Plus on the windshield

Rather than choosing one darkness for every piece of glass, the combination allowed the different areas of the vehicle to serve different purposes while maintaining a cohesive finished appearance.

From outside, the 30% front and 20% rear combination works particularly well with the Model Y L's silver exterior and dark trim. The finished vehicle has a noticeably more uniform glass appearance without losing the clean design of the car.

The windshield received much lighter 70% XR Plus. That makes the windshield part of the overall ceramic-film package without giving it the dark appearance of the side windows.
